A little death in my daily life

An astrologer friend pointed out that since I have Pluto in my sixth house I would experience a little death in my daily life. For a while nap time with the babies served that purpose. If you’ve ever supported a young one in the transition from here to wherever it is we go when we sleep you must know what I mean. Falling asleep, letting go of the world, trusting your body to the earth, embodied in your warm soft bed it is like dying. You go all alone. You don’t know what will happen. And as a little one not yet versed in this worlds permanency it must be frightening at times. I’m here, you’re alright, we can play again when you wake up. Well, today nap time was easy. The little ones slip off to sleep after a few minutes of singing to themselves and I found my death in a book. Zazen by Vanessa Veselka a Reed graduate. I mention Reed because it was in the Reed alumni magazine that I first …

Suddenly realizing the world is not just for us

At this threshold, we are as children, suddenly realizing that the world is not just for us. We realize that there are other consciousnesses around us, interacting with us. – Chiron, Healing Body and Soul – Martin Lass I had a conversation with my 7 year old daughter recently about how it effects the people around her when she is particularly dramatic in expressing her hurt or upset. She first pushed for the importance of her right to express her feelings and then she acknowledged how that could be scary or upsetting for someone near her. I could see her little mind struggling with the paradox of her need for the space to express and another being’s need for the space not to be expressed upon. Her deeply compassionate nature struggled with her robust sense of self worth. This dance of the inner and outer world is such a big part of being alive with other people. To know I am worthy of everything I want, and so are you. To feel the connection of …

Making Stuff

I seem to be obsessed with making stuff, or at least the idea of it. Beef stock Saurkraut Kefir Beeswax candles Knit seat cushions Intarsia gloves Salad dressing (just made some with my daughter yesterday, Yum. duelling flavors) Fermented Ketchup Kombucha not to mention the pile of half processed herbs and about a dozen new blog post ideas All these are running around my mind and whenever I have a minute I come up with more.Whoa! What is going on? I so don’t have time to make all of this. And where are all these ideas coming from?I’ll credit the 4 planets in Pisces, Realm of Possibility, where my Sun and Mercury live. My imagination is currently highly stimulated. Well, it’s weekend now so we’ll see where I get too. Maybe my hands in the dirt or a brisk walk outside would be good too. To clear my mind and ground my inspirations. ******************** Checking in a few months later. I have finished my fingerless gloves, and they are lovely.     It pleases me …

A brief glimpse of what lies ahead

Neptune, Lord of infinite Possibility, has just returned home to Pisces, the realm of Dreams and Visions. For the next 13 years. Are you ready to dream your grandest visions of what’s possible for humanity into being, or are you going to hide out with a bottle of wine and play video games all night? Mars, the Warrior, is on his way back through Virgo, to visit the temple priestess and have his wounds nurtured and energy revived. Are you feeling angry, wounded, overwhelmed and in need of a break or do you already take great care of your body and energy? Next Week Saturn stations in Libra in preparation for a several month trip of going back to look at what is and what is not working in our lives. Do you have any unfinished business in relationships with anyone? This is a good time to go back and apologize, reach out to a friend in need, pay back the neighbors for watching your kids or deal with whatever is in the way of …

Neptune opposite Mars

Neptune is considered to be the great dissolverĀ  in astrology. In my chart Neptune sits right in the middle of my house of relationships (the 7th house) and opposite Mars. My Mars is in Gemini in the first house, the house of the self. I enjoy communicating, am impulsive and start many projects. I am very energetic and self-assertive and I rarely retreat from a conflict. That’s a rough paraphrase of some key points from astro.com, a great site for free charts. I know it is more complex than that. But I’m sure this blog is in part sponsored by Mars in Gemini. Neptune is in Sagitarius in the 7th house, the house of the reflected self or intimate relationships. The sign of noble Truth. That’s like a big, fat, stormy, foggy, ocean cloud sitting in front of God. All I want is to love and know God but first I must swim through the mist and dissolve all that stands in the way. In the meantime there are things that I just don’t understand. …
